Studies show that altering your body language can change your feelings. Adopt a power pose–think of the way Wonder Woman stands-and your confidence will rise along with your testosterone. Taking up space and spreading out can give you the self-esteem you need before you undergo an experience in which you would usually be nervous.
Nonetheless, be wary about putting your feet up on the desk during an interview, since doing so could make you appear overconfident. The key to using power poses is to assume them when no one is watching or to use socially accepted postures when people can see you.
For instance, if you are alone, feel free to clasp your hands behind your neck so that your elbows stick out to the sides and put your feet up. However, if people can see you, uncross your arms and legs, and use the chair’s armrests when you are sitting. When standing, be mindful about not appearing to decrease your size. Instead, use your arms to make expansive gestures when you are talking, and space your feet away from each other a little. Alternatively, find a place where people cannot view you and use big power poses to your heart’s content.
Add clout to your power pose
In addition to using a power pose to boost your confidence, breathe deeply, down into your stomach. Taking long, slow breaths will automatically make you feel relaxed and comfortable. You can also picture a ball of light circulating around your heart. Pretend that the ball fills your system with the emotions that you most want to experience, such as vitality or peacefulness.

Use all three methods at once, and you will feel strong and be ready for anything that life throws your way.
